The world's first ATM went into service 50 years ago
From a slow start in 1967, the global popularity of the machines that dispense currency notes seems to defy predictions of a cashless society.
Professor Bernardo Batiz-Lazo, an expert in banking history at Bangor University in Wales, tells the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Russell Padmore what drove banks to introduce Automated Teller Machines in Sweden and the UK in 1967.
