Emet and K'ets - Five Dozen Miles
A conversation between 6 year old twins.
Directed and Animated by Patrycja Szypula
Course: MA Animation. University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol
I chose to animate the conversation between Emet and K’ets as it sounded absolutely charming. It instantly switched on my imagination and made me think how I could possibly portray the subject of siblings.
The way that twins talk about being able to have fun together and how amazing it is if there could be more of you because nothing sound better than to having more friends to go on adventures with. It has inspired me to imagine them as kittens playing with reflections, and creating a variety of shapes but most importantly many copies of themselves by which they are so fascinated in their conversation. My inspirations are mostly in illustrated children’s books and I feel like Gumball had some artistic influence as well. I decided to keep the backgrounds minimal as my main focus is on the animated characters and watching what they’re doing.
I hope I managed to achieve an animation that will complement the twins’ conversation and that it is something fun and charming, that you can show the audiences of all ages and hopefully make them smile and laugh.
