Jamie Vardy's V9 academy has its first graduate
Jamie Vardy's V9 academy has its first graduate after Danny Newton signed for League Two Stevenage from non-league Tamworth.
The 26-year-old has signed a two-year deal after scoring 29 goals last term as Tamworth finished ninth in National League North.
Newton spent a week with the V9 academy which aims discover non-league football talent and promote them to the professional game.
He told 5 live Breakfast: βItβs all moved pretty fast since the academy and Iβll be playing in league two next year.β
Jamie Vardy contacted Newton after he heard the news: βHe texted me saying heβs delighted for me and just to work hard and keep doing what Iβm doing and everything will fall into place.β
