Monye: Some Lions call-ups not 'best of the very best'
Former Lion Ugo Monye says some of the players called up to the current squad in New Zealand are not the "best of the very best".
Lions boss Warren Gatland has added six players to the squad who were on tour with Wales or Scotland in Australasia.
Monye said: I'm really disappointed at the selection,
"It is the pinnacle of your career, and you shouldn't be on the tour due to convenience rather than being the best around.
"The very essence of being a Lion is the best of the very best and unfortunately a couple of the players that are out there, they're not the best of the very best."
Welsh quartet Kristian Dacey, Tomas Francis, Cory Hill and Gareth Davies were all called up after Wales' victory over Tonga.
Scotland prop Allan Dell and fly-half Finn Russell were also added to the squad following Scotland's defeat of Australia.
