Understanding EVEL and Salisbury Convention

There are a couple of constitutional fixes or conventions that might help Theresa May's minority government become a little bit more 'strong and stable'.

Dr Alan Renwick from the Constitution Unit looked at English Votes for English Laws (known as EVEL) aiming to limit the powers of MPs from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland on laws only affecting England.

He also explained the role of the Salisbury Convention, which has some role in protecting government plans that were in a party manifesto.
