The former soldier who leaked secret information, Chelsea Manning, has been released from prison in the US. In January 2017 Barack Obama said she should be released in one of his final acts as president, just four years into a 35 year term. She was convicted in 2013 for leaking approximately 7,000 secret military documents to the website Wikileaks.

During her sentence she transitioned from male to female.
