Heart failure, where the heart can no longer pump sufficient blood around the body, affects 26 million people around the world. The condition can have a profound psychological effect, and leaves many sufferers depressed and anxious. John Sharpe, Consultant Clinical Psychologist at the Golden Jubilee National Hospital, Glasgow, explains the devastation that can be caused by the disease, and why people that suffer from depression could be more at risk from the disease.
