Funds cut for US broadcasters not fake news

President Donald Trump is proposing to end all federal funding for public broadcasting, a cut that will hit brands like PBS and NPR.

The White House is targeting cuts to federal government funds of about $450 million to CPB, the corporation that distributes grants to local TV and radio stations, as well as producers of news and entertainment programming.

The non commercial stations offer educational shows for children, historical documentaries plus news programmes, but at a time when some networks have been accused by President Trump of "fake news" taking the axe to funding could restrict reporting.

Cleve Callison, manager at WHQR radio in Wilmington, North Carolina, tells us how the station will be affected.
