Paddy and Mick - Swimming and Philosophy
Animators: Katya Shipulina, Callie Campbell, Charlotte Higton, James Neil, Thomas Dunleavy, Jordan Albon
Course: BA Animation at Norwich University of the Arts
The animators say: Our group chose the audio clip βSwimming and Philosophyβ because we really like the imagery created when Paddy and Mick described the feeling of swimming. We wanted to create something that linked water, meditation and buddhism together, which is why we chose to use some of The Eight Auspicious Symbols of Buddhism, such as the Lotus, The Two Golden Fish, and The Conch Shell, as well as depicting the Tibetan Buddhist tradition of Sand Mandalas at the end. The overall style we chose was influenced by Buddhist art works, which generally have brightly coloured, flat images, with lots of patterns in the water.
