South Indian traders ban Pepsi and Coca-Cola

Traders in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu have banned the sale of Coca-Cola and Pepsi. The associations representing the shopkeepers claim the firms take too much water from rivers, leaving farmers struggling to irrigate their land at a time of severe drought. They want local drinks to be promoted instead such as fruit juices. The Indian Beverage Association has said it's disappointed with the ban. Suhrith Parthasarathy is a lawyer and newspaper columnist in Chennai. He explained to the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Rob Young the series of events that led to the boycott.
