'PM must have freedom to negotiate Brexit'

Writing a "meaningful vote" into Brexit Bill introduces inflexibility, says Commons Leader.

Speaking to the Westminster Hour's Carolyn Quinn, David Lidington MP said: "The relationship between Parliament and Government is there are certain things that Governments do on behalf of the country, and they are accountable to Parliament then for those decisions and the approach they have taken in negotiations."

The Leader of the Commons - who is responsible for organising government business in the lower house - added: "We need to leave the Prime Minister and her team with the freedom to negotiate [Brexit], get the best deal possible and then, yes, to report back to Parliament on that.”
