Do members of the black community know the signs of a stroke?

Public Health England's Act FAST campaign is trying to raise awareness amongst members of the black community.

Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Berkshire's Bridgitte Tetteh met Charles Bosah, who has himself suffered a stroke, as well as a specialist in treating the consequences of the event.

Charles Bosah:

"I was alone at home preparing to go to work. All of a sudden I had like an electric shock in my head. I managed to get out of the bath, but I noticed I was dragging my left leg along the corridor.

"I saw my face was so drawn. The left side of my face wasn't what it used to be."

Gloria Ekeng, Stroke Nurse Consultant:

"Black and Asian people are twice as likely to suffer from a stroke, and things such as high blood pressure, diabetes.

"We should be exercising, making sure that our weight is under control, and also eating healthily. Things such as high cholesterol will cause it (a stroke) because it can block the blood vessels that line the brain."
