Climbing the ladder in 1980s Britain: Clare and Ruth
Clare and Ruth were among the first women to qualify as bricklayers in London.
They met on a building site in 1984 and faced discrimination, sexism and prejudice as they strove to build a career in an industry that hasn't always been woman-friendly.
Ruth left the industry following many physical issues and Clare went on to become a construction teacher. Until the Listening Project, they hadn't discussed those early days and the impact it had on their lives....
