Hotel held to ransom by hackers
We've heard about our computers being hacked, smartphones infiltrated and government servers coming under attack. But it seems hotels are not immune either. Hackers have been holding some establishments to ransom by getting into their networks, shutting down systems and refusing to leave unless money is transferred to a Bitcoin account. It happened at one hotel in southern Austria last week. Staff became suspicious when they were unable to issue room keys to guests. Christoph Brandstaetter of the Seehotel Jaegerwirt told the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Susannah Streeter how he first became aware of the hack.
