Darren is turning 37 in June. He's no longer working with the Poverty Truth Commission. He enjoyed the 3-years with them and wanted to explore some new challenges. He's currently spending a lot of time volunteering with the Bridging the Gap charity in Glasgow. They provide events and outreach for new members of the community. He works at their drop-in clinic every Thursday and also acts as their 'Meet and Greet' for new faces. He's had a really rough time since recording the conversation. Last year he was sanctioned for a total of 6-months. Although he has friends and family in Glasgow, he said he often had no food in the house and no resources to buy any. His experiences made him reflect more on his time on the streets and he said he tries to go out most evenings with outreach workers to spend time with the homeless community and to offer support.Donna is still working with the Poverty Truth Commission and trying to convey her first-hand experiences of poverty to authority figures to help shape policy and influence decision-making.
