Syria: Your questions answered
The situation in Syria is far from straight forward - with unrest beginning back in 2011.
It was inspired by the "Arab Spring" uprisings, and soon developed into a civil war that drew in world powers and triggered a refugee crisis.
This week, government forces took nearly all remaining rebel-held parts of the city of Aleppo, after a four-year battle.
