Exploring a WWI βDazzle shipβ
The HMS President was built in 1917 to sink German U-Boats.
It was known as a βDazzle shipβ - a measure invented by Norman Wilkinson - which camouflaged vessels by painting disorientating shapes and patterns to help protect them from German torpedoes.
