"My life consists of four walls"

Sarah Gilbert from Southampton is 40, married to Lee, is a mother of 4 children with 1 grandchild and was a few years ago diagnosed with a strain of complex epilepsy.

Her condition has developed and Sarah is now considered at high risk from Sudden Unexpected Death from Epileptic Seizure.

When symptoms first presented in 2002 (pins and needles, dizziness, tiredness, lethargy) she was told by staff at A+E that she wasn't really ill and was "just attention seeking".

That meant she went though most of her adult life not telling anyone about it which as you can imagine, is terribly hard to bear - but is also extremely dangerous. Day to day things like making a cup of tea could see her pass out, injure herself and even die.

This Sunday, several friends and supporters are taking part in the Great South Run, raising money and awareness for Sudden Unexpected Death from Epilepsy and Sarah wants to thank the runners - and her family for their support.

This is her story.
