Women in the Grime scene
UK Grime is having a bit of a moment right now – coming of age perhaps – with two albums from the genre being nominated for Mercury awards – and Skepta’s Konichiwa winning of course. The music takes its themes and inspirations from growing up in inner-city housing estates and tower blocks is becoming more mainstream. Who are the women in the industry we should be taking notice of? Jane Garvey talks to music journalist Hattie Collins, and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 1Xtra's Jasmin Evans.
