Laws: Liberal Democrats should 'not go near' deal with Labour

David Laws says his party has to sort out its own problems, not strike cross-party deals. The former Chief Secretary to the Treasury told the Westminster Hour that he disagreed with Paddy Ashdown's call for the Liberal Democrats to stand a joint candidate with Labour in the Witney by-election. He said that there was "no shortcut [to success] by throwing ourselves into a political mixture" and that it would not help the party's candidates to be associated with Jeremy Corbyn.
