Former Rangers manager Ally McCoist says the club need 鈥榓n injection of realism鈥� and has labelled their current expectations as 鈥榰nrealistic.鈥�

The club are back in the Scottish Premiership, but having lost 5-1 to Celtic in the Glasgow derby, McCoist believes Rangers are still a long way off competing with Brendan Rodgers side.

鈥淭he expectations are unrealistic, it is as simple as that,鈥� said the the 53-year-old, who played over 400 games for the club, as well as a spell as manager.

鈥淭here is no real realism with what is happening.

鈥淚 said before the game (against Celtic) that I thought Rangers were two or three years away from challenging at the top of the league.

鈥淯nless some waves a magic wand and gives them fortunes of money to spend it鈥檚 not going to happen in the next two or three years so the best thing that could happen is an injection of realism,鈥� McCoist added
