βBionicβ woman takes on Great North run
Claire Lomas - who is paralysed from the chest down - is taking on the Great North run, thanks to the help of a bionic suit to help her walk.
The distance has taken a total of five days and requires Claire to tilt her pelvis for every step to coordinate the movements with the suit. She said: βItβs not only physically hard, but it is mentally hard to concentrate and get the timing absolutely rightβ
She also made a special announcement during the challenge - that she has done it while being 16 weeks pregnant.
A weary Claire added: βItβs a full day to do a few miles, and Iβve had a few injuries on the way. Iβll be so pleased to not do much next week, Iβm very excited!β
