Speeding cyclists debate continues
Are speeding cyclists putting your safety at risk?
The leader of Peterborough City Council has renewed calls for tougher enforcement of the cycling ban on Bridge Street
For many years, cyclists have had to dismount their bikes between 09:00 and 18:00 during the week.
But council leader John Holdich says the ban is rarely enforced and cyclists put pedestrians' safety at risk by speeding up and down the street.
So, as of next month, the Conservative Party in Peterborough is giving council enforcement officers powers to help crack down on the problem. They will be able to give cyclists a Β£50 penalty notice.
