Formula 1 journalist Michael Schmidt says it was clear from Michael Schumacher's debut he was a 鈥渟pecial鈥� talent.

Schumacher qualified seventh on his debut for Jordan at the 1991 Belgian Grand Prix and Schmidt felt it was clear the German had the ability to become one the sport's best drivers.

"You knew by Saturday afternoon, like we knew with [Ayrton] Senna, like we knew for Lewis [Hamilton], like we knew with [Max] Verstappen, after the first race he is going to be somebody special.

"Not only because he was quick but also his behaviour. I remember in qualifying he was showing his fists to Alain Prost because he was slowing him down on one of his fast laps."

Schumacher went on to become the sport's most successful driver, winning seven world titles while driving for Benetton and Ferrari.
