Burnham: Manchester Olympic parade could help bridge north-south divide
Manchester hosting a Team GB Olympic homecoming parade could help bridge the UK's north-south divide, according to Labour MP Andy Burnham.
Manchester City Council says it is in talks about hosting a parade to celebrate the achievements of Team GB at the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The city is home to several medal winners, including Team GB cyclists and Taekwondo gold medallist Jade Jones.
"The country's about more than London...We have a Prime Minister saying she wants to close the north-south divide. Well why not do something simple, that could be a real symbol of that change?", said the Shadow Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Secretary.
