Men's Final - Italy v Brazil
Full coverage of the final between Italy and Brazil from the Maracanazinho Stadium. Will the hosts follow up their beach volleyball gold medal with one in the volleyball?
Full coverage of the final between Italy and Brazil from the Maracanazinho Stadium. Italy come into this match as the form team in the Olympics and have contested medal matches at the last five games, including securing the bronze medal in 2000 and 2012. Having upset pre-tournament favourites USA in the semi-finals, they will see no reason why they cannot follow that up with a victory over the hosts.
As for Brazil, they would love to round off a home Olympic Games with a gold medal and their opponents Italy were on the other side of the net the last time Brazil won volleyball gold at Athens 2004. If looking to history for inspiration, Brazil's players will certainly focus on Athens rather than Beijing 2008 or London 2012 where they lost in the final.
