Could crowdfunding help restore Nero's Domus Aurea?
The project to restore Nero's Domus Aurea (Golden House) is turning to crowdfunding to help pay for the restoration.
Built between 64 and 68 AD, the Domus Aurea covered the size of three modern day football pitches. It had lavishly painted walls encrusted with precious gemstones.
Excavations on the site began in 1930, but there is still much work to do, and it will cost at least further 30m euros (Β£25m, $33m) to complete.
The government has provided some funding towards the project but other sources of funding will also be required.
