Beauty in "that completely banal, ordinary moment"
William Eggleston is often referred to as the father of colour photography. His richly hued images of everyday life in the 1960s American South have inspired leading film-makers including David Lynch and Sofia Coppola. Dan Damon spoke to Phillip Prodger, director of photography at London's National Portrait Gallery which is featuring a retrospective of his work, William Eggleston Portraits.
