Confessions of a Rogue Trader
Ghanaian-born Kweku Adoboli lost $2 billion working for UBS bank. He tells us how, and why it could happen again. Also, Lucy Kellaway reveals her unlikely hero of plain-speaking,
We broadcast an extended interview with Kweku Adoboli, the Ghanaian-born banker who managed to gamble and lose 2 billion dollars of his bank's money in London after the financial crisis. The losses were unparalleled in British banking history. He admits mistakes, but in his first broadcast interview since his release from prison, he tells the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Economics editor, Kamal Ahmed, that the same thing could easily happen again. Also in the programme, Lucy Kellaway of the Financial Times, always a champion of plain-speaking, finds an unexpected paragon of the art in the widely-reviled British retail boss, Sir Philip Green. She finds that he's really grasped the art of how to deliver plain insults, plainly. (Picture: Kweku Adoboli, arriving at court in London, Sept. 22, 2011. Credit: Getty Images)
