Jeremy Corbyn spoke live to Jeremy Vine on Radio 2 following the launch of his campaign to retain the Labour Party leadership. Jeremy Vine asked him about claims he had been stirring up trouble against his critics in the party such as Angela Eagle, who has cancelled her constituency surgeries following advice from police:

"I'm very sad Angela should use that language and say that. I have absolutely condemned any abuse. ... There was an incident when I understand a brick was thrown through a window in the building, part of which is her constituency office. I contacted her immediately to say I was very sorry to hear what had happened and to express my support for her as a constituency MP trying to do her job.

"I think local MPs should carry on with their advice surgeries, obviously with appropriate security measures. And I understand all the concerns after the murder of Jo Cox and all the horrors that went with that. But I do think as members of Parliament we shouldn't allow those people who want to disrupt our work to force us into silos. We need to be out there talking to people - surely that is the real strength of our democracy."
