Negative body image adverts face London transport network ban
We're quite used to seeing images of good looking svelte young men and women on adverts to sell anything from chocolate to shampoo. If you're unhappy with your own appearance that day, such pictures can be annoying, but should they be banned? The Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has done just that. From next month ads won't be allowed on the Transport for London bus, tube and train network which promote an 'unrealistic' body image. Last year posters from Protein World of a bikini clad model asking "Are you beach body ready?'' were defaced and a petition calling for their removal gathered tens of thousands of signatures. Susannah Streeter spoke to public relations professional Sarah Hall, and asked how easy it would be to decide which models were looking too unrealistic.
