Hiking using only nature as a guide

How easy is it to hike to what is thought to be Britain’s most remote pub without the use of a compass, map or smartphone?

Before the invention of instruments, humans relied on natural navigation – a technique which uses the Sun, the Moon, stars, wind, weather, plants and animals to provide orientation.

The ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Travel Show’s Ben Zand attempts a three day hike in the Scottish Highlands using only natural navigation to see if it is possible.

Disclaimer: Before hiking in mountains make sure you are prepared – more information can be found at the Mountaineering Council of Scotland’s website (see link below).

If you are intending to use natural navigation make sure you also take a map and compass in case it is needed.
