Can African Economies Get Back on Track?

Since the global credit crisis of 2009, the African Development Bank has doubled its lending in Africa; it's also set up a fund to help the private sector. But despite their best efforts, the markets have turned, as commodity prices have fallen. Leading African nations are facing serious economic problems. Just this week Nigerian authorities admitted that the country is close to recession, South Africa could be facing a credit downgrade, whilst others like Ghana, Angola and Zambia are in slowdown. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Lerato Mbele sat down with Dr Akinwunmi Adesina, the president of the Africa Development Bank to discuss the prospects for a continent that only a few years ago was said to be "rising".
