What are we to make of the result of Austria's presidential election? That the far right candidate didn't win? Or that he nearly won? Or that he opened the way for a Green party leader. Norbert Hofer - the presidential candidate of Austria's freedom party came within a hair's breadth of becoming the European Union's first far right head of state since the Second World War.
