The Long Journey - Mai's Video Diary
There are 12 women’s prisons in England, and none in Wales. This means Welsh women who are sent to prison have to serve their time hundreds of miles away from family, friends and their community. Women in South Wales are usually sent to HMP Eastwood Park in Gloucestershire, with those in North Wales going to HMP Styal in Cheshire.
Mai Davies recorded this video diary tracing just how difficult and complex it can be for those visiting to even get to the prison.
