The smart bike light that reports road defects

If you live in the city, you may have been encouraged at one point or another to cycle. Of course it's healthy and cheap, but there are downsides too. In the UK alone, more than 400 cyclists were seriously injured or killed in 2014. And nearly half a million bikes are stolen each year. So in order to encourage people to cycle, local and national governments need to consider how to make cities safer for cycling. A firm called See.Sense has created a new type of bike light, that it hopes will do just that. Crammed with sensors and linked to a smartphone app, its designed to turn cyclists into data collectors for the city. They're winners of the BT award for connected cities in the UK. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ's Marie Keyworth went to meet the creators.
