Segregated cycle paths are being built in some of the UK's larger cities, which is good news for those on two-wheels but has met opposition from some other road users who face delays, pollution and a loss of road space.

The work to build them has made life "vile" for pedestrians, says Janet Street-Porter who claimed many London cyclists fail to stop at red lights or keep off the pavements.

In a personal film, which she will debate on Monday鈥檚 Daily Politics, the TV presenter and former president of the Ramblers' Association asked why cyclists should get preferential treatment over pedestrians.
