Donald Trump is presumptive presidential nominee

In the space of just a few months, Donald Trump has morphed from maverick outsider to the man most likely to be Republican presidential nominee. To some, of course, the billionaire property magnate and reality TV star remains just a maverick. But Mr Trump won a resounding victory in the latest primary, in Indiana. A victory which forced his two main Republican rivals Ted Cruz and John Kasich to drop out of the race. Donald Trump's maverick credentials have been burnished by his campaign promises to build a wall on the Mexican border to keep out illegal immigrants, and impose a temporary ban on all Muslims entering the US. Mike Johnson sought analysis from our regular commentator, the US economist Irwin Stelzer, of Washington's Hudson Institute.
