Greece Approves Spending Reforms Amid Clashes

A contentious package of tax and pension reforms has been passed by Greek parliament.

Greece's parliament stayed up until midnight, voting to pass a contentious package of tax and pension reforms. Before the vote, protesters in Athens threw petrol bombs at the police, who responded with tear gas. But will the measures be enough to persuade creditors to release the next tranche of bailout money? 300 leading economists including Thomas Pikkety, Jeffrey Sachs and Nora Lustig, have joined a call for more tax transparency. They're asking governments to lift the veil on offshore secrecy.
