New Dreams at the Kelvin Gallery

At the University of Glasgow's Kelvin Gallery, we meet the curators and students behind the Shakespeare New Dreams exhibitions.

A selection of design objects, films and images have been installed there - and also at the Glasgow School of Art's Fyfe Gallery - as part of the cross-institutional project involving the GSA, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, University of Glasgow and ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ.

The works on display have been generated by the wider community of design students at The Glasgow School of Art as interpretative and contemporary responses to some of the core themes within A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

These included order and disorder, dramatic narratives, different strands of performativity, and the idea of liminality – a zone between dream and reality, β€˜civilisation’ and the forest, intact and broken, darkness and light.

This translates into a wide variety of forms that link these themes to a contemporary and timely response to broader concerns within today’s world.
