South Africa's 'Dame Edna' activist who fought apartheid

South African author, actor and activist Pieter-Dirk Uys is a comedy cultural icon who runs a visitor attraction in the small town of Darling.

He is particularly well known for his character Evita Bezuidenhout who challenged apartheid with satire.
