Gordan swims across a known haunt of saltwater crocodiles
It perhaps says a lot about humans that we can start a day by saying βI definitely wouldnβt do thatβ, to ending it doing the very thing you had said youβd never do. Saltwater crocodiles are arguably the worldβs most feared reptiles. So to swim across a lake that is the confirmed haunt of a giant one might seem like madness. Well, not if someone you trust says itβs safe. In the Tribe series I put my safety in the hands of people Iβd only just met. Of course, swimming across the lake was memorable, but maybe more so is to see how our ability to trust transcends culture, custom and language. Trusting others is something we humans do well.
