Women of the Wall

A group of women are defying the religious ruling that women should be quiet at the Wall

Women's struggle for religious rights in Israel. In 1989, a group of women decided to go against the Rabbi at the Western Wall who ruled that women should pray in silence, and said that a woman's voice 'defiles a holy place,' distracting the men from prayer. How this has now become the most important feminist issue in Judaism.
