The World Health Organisation’s (WHO) Road Safety Day on 7 April marks the start of a global campaign for road traffic injury prevention. But are the underlying issues being neglected, even by the WHO? This report from India, investigates how the roads are being improved for motor car drivers, but as a result are becoming increasingly hazardous for other road users, such as pedestrians, cyclists and animal-drawn traffic.
