Jenny Andrews (not her real name) from Grenada started the school year late, as the 15-year-old new mum had been appearing on national TV, fighting for her right to return to secondary school. Jenny won her case but the problem is far from over. In Grenada, it is law that all children attend school until they are 16. But if a girl becomes pregnant before then, she is encouraged to keep her baby a secret, or to not continue her education at all. We investigate how Jenny’s case has split this tiny Caribbean country in two, with many parents saying she should be expelled as she’s setting a bad example while others say she is opening the door for other young mums to continue their education.
