Black World Championship Rodeo
Many of the first cowboys were black, and 100 years later their Wild West ways live on
Many of the first cowboys were black, and 100 years later their Wild West ways still live on… in Harlem, New York. Once a year, the Black World Championship Rodeo comes to town, and the locals get out their Stetson hats, boots and jeans to become cowboys for a day and go rodeo riding. We gallop over to meet the organiser of the annual show, George Blaire, to find out the history of the black cowboys who are descendants of the black cavalry, otherwise known as the infamous buffalo soldiers.
Also on the show, we chat to the young writers who are honing their trade and getting their work noticed via the exciting online world of the internet; and we meet the young Lebanese who have a taken a real liking to a new type of music – techno.
