Empowering Young People
Sexual education for teens needs to come from teens, not men in suits
Sexual education for teens needs to come from teens, not men in suits. That’s the message from a group of 12 young people who met in London as part of the Youth Committee Meeting of the International Planned Parenthood Federation. The teenagers – who travelled from countries as far away as India and New Zealand – believe that sexual exploration is only dangerous if it’s based on ignorance, so they want to empower young people all over the world with sexual education and spread their mantra: Get informed. Get involved. Get responsible.
Also on the show, we meet 19-year-old Asian girls, Sussed and Sassy (otherwise known as Nealpa and Jossie), to talk about their magazine column Snoop, which is a scathing but hilarious view on Asian life in Britain; and we join the Animal Aid Youth Group outside one of London’s top fur stores as they stage a demonstration against cruelty to trapped and caged animals.
