November is a novel of contemporary politics by East German Rolf Schneider and is now released in English translation but has yet to be published in East Germany. American double bass virtuoso Gary Karr on the beauty and sensuality of his chosen instrument. Christopher Marlowe's play Doctor Faustus is reviewed in a futuristic production directed by Adrian Noble with Ben Kingsley in the title role at the Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester. Alan Alda's film The Four Seasons follows the fortunes of four couples and what happens when one pair breaks up.
