Tony Blackburn: "I am blaming the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ in 1971"

Tony Blackburn has spoken to Broadcasting House on Radio 4 in his first broadcast interview since parted company with the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ over the evidence he gave to the Dame Janet Smith inquiry.

Documents reviewed by the inquiry showed Blackburn himself had once been questioned by his bosses, in 1971, after a 15 year old girl claimed he'd seduced her. The claim was subsequently withdrawn, and police decided it wasn't true. Blackburn says it never happened and that the allegation was never even put to him.

Tony Blackburn spoke to presenter Paddy O'Connell:

"I am blaming the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ in 1971. Now all these people are dead...The management at the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ at the time did fall short of my standards because I should have been investigated."
