A potentially revolutionary new technique in the treatment of cancer has reported extraordinary results in terminally ill patients. Researchers say that in one study 93% of patients with acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia saw their symptoms vanish completely.

Some experts have made the point that this treatment is only useful when treating blood cancers, which have a high survival rate. Concerns have also been raised over the damage the technique could do to patients' immune systems.

The lead researcher, Professor Stanley Riddell of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, explained the research to Newsday.
